The Brown Associates have completed nearly one hundred residential projects. New residential work includes custom homes on very tight urban lots and acreage. Sites have also included high and low bank waterfront, some in FEMA designated flood plain. In addition to custom homes, we have prepared drawings for "spec" homes for builders and developers.

We assist owners with coordination of septic, private water systems and community covenants, conditions and restrictions (CC&R's), and shoreline and zoning issues.

Services can be limited to any level of need you may have. We can provide simple feasibility studies for potential site purchases, home owner association review drawings, or prepare permit drawings for your submittal. We can supply you with a list of qualified local builders, sub-contractors (for Owner/Contractors) or provide review of payment requests during construction, change order evaluation and assist with lender documentation.

The Brown Associates/Architects is a full service architectural firm established in 1983 in the City of Seattle doing both commercial and residential work. While continuing to provide services seven western states, we located our offices to Whidbey Island in 1994. Our emphasis is on personal attention to the client’s program needs and budget. Our efforts are at your discretion and can be limited to as much or little help as you need. We can assist you through the jurisdictional maze, help you select contractors or provide permit drawings only.

Residential work includes custom homes as well as small remodels and additions. Multi-family efforts have included condominiums, apartments, co-housing and affordable housing projects with attention to energy and green solutions. Commercial work has included office and tenant improvement work of all kinds. We also have experience in designing church, television, hotel and restaurant and mixed-use buildings.

In addition to design work, we have over twenty years experience in construction observation in the seven western states, preparation of capital needs assessments and feasibility studies.
